Epilogue

                                          

Jacqueline A. Custer, 79, of Barnegat passed April 20, 2016. Born in Minneapolis, MN she resided in CT and Manalapan, NJ before moving to Barnegat in 2005. Jacqueline was a supporter of the American Diabetes Association and enjoyed being a member of the "Red Hats".

Surviving are her beloved husband, three children, two grandchildren and four sisters.

Oops, missed the airport exit...

Well, maybe we were hankering for just one more adventure before we left.  It is so much more fun to make the wrong turn with a car full of clowns.

But got to see the Independence Hall.

 The older I get, (and remember I am the youngest) the more I realize that moments happen just once and you must not let them pass you by.  So with that, we take a quick right turn.

Great ending to and awesome week

This was such a great trip. We laughed out loud and quietly prayed for more days like we just had.  We are so very glad that we able were here. We all leave just a little happier. 

Thank you and good bye.  We love you and will miss you.

Until we meet again

One more walk on the beach and a bittersweet good bye to this majestic Atlantic ocean.  We enjoyed your warm sun (and cold water). While the time to head back home is approaching, we will hold these memories in a special place in our hearts.  The time went by so fast.  We were so lucky to take be able to visit this beautiful place and share this wonderful trip together.

Ok, so these guys are crazy nuts in a casino.  Honestly, I also went a little out of my mind.  I won $85, but I lost $125.  Oops, not suppose to work like that.  Still I yelled like a manic when big money came up on the slot machine.

Happy Birthday to me!

Jackie looking stronger every day.  So fun to be here and planning events.  Party day to celebrate my 60th birthday with fun gifts handed down through each of their 60th birthdays.  Yup, nothing beats an "All About Me" day.   Ending with a trip to Sweet Jenny's ice cream parlor for a "Princes Sundae".   Two scoops of pumpkin ice cream,  candied walnuts, hot fudge AND whipped cream.   M-M-M-M

It is all fun and games with 6-5-4.  Lucky Gary gets to play with the girls.

Technology Boot Camp

Evenings have been really nice to spend having down time.  Back to our cute little beach house for a bite to eat, a walk around the neighborhood and quite time with our personal technology devices.
Some nights quieter than others... "How do you do that?"  "Show me how to..." and my personal favorite;  "I did not do anything and look, it just went black!"

Seriously, I have to wonder if people over seventy should have tablets or just get a book?

Sometimes, the best way to figure out why you did not get the message is to do some direct testing.  LOL

Spending days with Jackie has been just awesome.   Laughing and screwing around.  What a bunch of nuts.  

Technology continues to be a challenge with this group.

Seven Hearts

Kicking back and playing cards is always part of a great vacation.  Eva won at " Dirty rotten hearts" the night before.  Tonight we cut for partners to play 500.  Funny that we have never played 500 together before.

After a fun day of pizza and games at Jackie and Gary's, we enjoy the great weather at the beach, so near our sweet little beach cottage. We did make a pit stop at the Island "5 and 10".

The TGIF lunch bunch.  I really feel sorry for anyone who has to wait on us.   We have real issues with special orders.  If only we could order off the menu and not change our minds seven or eight times.

Jackie and Gary show us where they take their daily walks.  Beautiful spot along the harbor.  Great walking paths and amazing views.

There is something so soothing about being by the sea.   This is such a good visit.   I am glad we made the trip.

Life is a beach

Good morning.  Another beautiful day on the Jersey shore.  The weather is just heavenly. We got up to explore our new surroundings in the daylight.  Our little beach cottage is just steps from the beach.  And what a beautiful beach it is! 

Being off season, we feel like we have the island all to ourselves.

We could really get used to this. Hmmm, I wonder if we can stay another week?

Destination, Barnegat ... ARRIVED

After a beautiful drive across the Jersey countryside, we arrived at our destination.  So happy to be  with our sister.

Four woman, three large suitcase, four oversized carry ons; the Bugdet Car Rental clerk said it could not be done.  I guess she never met a Putz girl.

The plane was awesome, the crew great. Thank you Frontier for being the first leg of our adventure.  Best flight I have taken in twenty five years.  I forgot how nice air travel could be.

We are on our way.

After all of the anticipation,  it is finally time for the fun to begin.   Last night at Nancy's was so much fun.  Now we are off heading to the Jersey Shore.   Dark outside, but the airport is always buzzing. Oh boy, here we come.

Number four

Well folks!!!  This is Nancy, #4 as Dad referred to me when he introduced me to folks.
It took me a while to get here on the blog but now...watch out!
I'm so excited about this trip!! I was "in" for sure the minute I heard what my other sisters had planned.
Watch out NJ ... we're on our way!

What to pack

Hi, this is Elaine. 
Need to pack and get organized. 

Four woman, seven days, three suitcases.   Maybe my math is wrong.  Those cheap flights were not so cheap when you add in all the fees for seats and luggage.  So I saved a little by cutting out one suitcase.  Just thinking that we have to get those suitcases in the rental car.  Eva thinks that we EACH need one carry on AND a large checked. Oh, oh.

You know, we have to get all that luggage up those stairs...

Beach "fixer-upper"

It seems like staying in a house might be a good idea. More room than a hotel.  Like all good ideas,  execution is key.   I have rented houses online before and have always been happy with the results.  Off season in a great location, how hard can it be?  Long story short, fatigue sets in after too many photos and descriptions, too many Saturday to Saturday only rentals.  I just rent one.

I was excited when Jackie called and said that they found the house we rented.   "Well..,  (long pause) it is a fixer-upper. Did you know that the stairs are outside."

Not getting a great feeling, I guess we will just have to see. It will give us something to laugh about.

Whether to worry about the weather

OK, so maybe we should have done a little more planning for this reunion.    October is not peak tourist season for the Jersey coast but how bad can it be,  right?  Being from Minnesota the concept of hurricane season is lost.

 I admittedly have never been anywhere near a hurricane.  Maybe we will get lucky and have some nice weather. The important thing is really just to get together.  Spontaneity will be a driving force anyway. We might just as well start right away.
